Deanna, “you saved my piano playing career” by ” teaching my arms to talk to my hands.” I am concertizing again and would not be without you! http://www.katieketchum.com/

I have benefitted from the work of Deanna Straub since 1998. In the decades before that I had sought body work as a means to correct any of the minor disasters I subjected my body to in my very active, physical working and personal life. To this day I am grateful for the act of fate that brought me into Deanna’s practice after the most significant injury I had ever sustained.
It was clear to me from the beginning that her deep and thorough understanding of the human body, with all its systems, is similar to that of a structural engineer. Under Deanna’s care it didn’t take long to realize that my seriously injured structural bits and pieces were being taught by her to speak and listen to each other. One of Deanna’s well hewn and polished gifts is the reeducating of the passage ways that can become silent closed with an injury.
Deanna Straub’s work taught me to hear the works in my body, she taught me that there are ways to reestablish the overall stability and strength needed for daily life. She listens to your experience and brilliantly uses her talent and wisdom bringing relief and hope when stress, strain or pain become the rulers of your days. I am so glad to have this opportunity to share my experience. If you are suffering from an injury, old or new, I recommend that you not hesitate in anyway. Make an appointment.

I have always been sports oriented and accepted a fair amount of pain as the price I paid for pushing myself in yoga and other activities. When I originally went to Deanna for a very tight hip, I had no idea I would end up with increased flexibility in that joint as well as totally free of low level achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis that had been coming and going for years.
Deanna’s office is clean, airy, and pleasant, with wonderful touches like a heated massage table, comfortable neck rest, and soft sheets. Deanna Straub combines technical expertise and intuition for a very healing experience, and she has the skill and patience to work deeply into the muscles and joints without the pain often associated with deep tissue work. The release seemed to foster long term change in my muscles, so that the adjustments were integrated and lasting. Her hands are always confident and accurate, which makes it easy to relax and enjoy the massage. I would recommend Deanna for people with chronic health issues, as well as those at any level of fitness who want to feel better and enjoy more range of motion.

I think of Deanna as a massage crafts-person. She understands the body and how it should all work in balance, which it does when she is done working with me. She is top notch!

Deanna has been my massage person of choice for 8 years. I found her serendipitously while researching trigger point massage and her name came up as a specialist in that kind of treatment. Her knowledge and expertise were immediately apparent as she kneaded the knots out of my body during that first massage. I’ve had other relaxing and pleasant massages but none even close to the rejuvenation and body repair Deanna can give. Along with the physical benefits, Deanna creates a warm and therapeutic atmosphere that also helps my mind and spirit. I trust her 100% and know that I am in good, strong, healing hands. When I think massage, I think Deanna.

I was hurting and I could not raise my arms over my head. Physical therapy wasn’t helping, the massage therapists I tried didn’t help and I did not want to mask the pain with drugs. I was feeling hopeless and didn’t expect much when my doctor suggested I see Deanna Straub.
How could she be any different then all the others? Yet, Deanna is different! That very first visit I left with the ability to lift my arm over my head. It wasn’t temporary either; I still have full motion in my arm! Deanna says “it’s just anatomy” but it’s not. It’s Deanna’s skill with anatomy! Deanna seems to zero right in on my trouble spots and work them in a way I’ve never before experienced. General massage doesn’t come close to what Deanna does. This is part of what physical therapy should be! Thank you Deanna, my world is a better place because of you!

Deanna is a superb massage therapist. Her approach is much like a very skilled technician. Deanna listens to my needs and works the kinks out. I highly recommend her and feel she is very capable and thorough. It’s well worth the time and the splurge!

Deanna has given me back my body.
Only with the help of Deanna’s expert hands do I attain relief from the pain I’ve had to contend with. I have Scoliosis, Lumbar Disc Herniation and some wild chronic pretzel effect that takes over my body when I am under too much mental and physical stress. My back was as hard as a rock, my sciatic nerve was constantly on fire, and I had limited range of motion. I tried numerous methods of treatment, but with only temporary relief or limited results.
I now have mobility and a quality of life I never thought I would regain. She has “opened up” my hips so that I can walk normally, like a woman would, rather than someone who’s afraid to move her hips so as not to induce pain.
Therapeutic massage is now a part of my wellness plan. I have been a patient since 2003 and I don’t know where I’d be today if I didn’t have Deanna’s help.
In addition to her professionalism and deep knowledge of the human anatomy, Deanna is a caring therapist and her dedication to her patients is exemplary.

Deanna Straub, CMT, in my professional and personal opinion, is one of the finest bodywork therapists in Northern California.
As a Board-certified Pain Management physician, I have had many opportunities to observe her unique artistry and its salutary effects upon the patients I have referred. Without exception, each patient –even the most complex physically and emotionally damaged of them– has reported improvement, often major improvement, in pain and ability to function. This comes, I think, from Deanna’s uncommon ability to “tune in” to each person’s individual mix of personality, pain and accumulated body armoring.
Personal experience with her work has given me a special perspective for comparing the inner effects of her work with objective client/patient results. The power of her art appears to come from three key talents: First, she radiates a deeply calm emotional center that you can feel. This gives an immediate sense that your problems are being heard and understood so that visits with Deanna take place in an atmosphere of calm trust. Second, Deanna maintains complete focused attention upon what her client is saying, in speech and –at the same time– in what the client’s body is saying through her hands. I believe this gives her, and I have experienced it as, an informed wisdom about your body that guides her to the core of the problem. Third, while she has had deep and wide training over many years, she has no discernible attachment to standardized approaches –no cookie-cutter bones in this woman! Instead, she applies a large palette of techniques guided by this special wisdom to tailor technique to the client’s need in the present moment. In my opinion, it is these talents together that enable Deanna to get the impressive results she is so often able to achieve.
Ms. Straub has my highest endorsement. She stands with the very best of massage therapists I have encountered over the past 30+ years. People in need of an effective healing touch, and health care professionals of all stripes, will make no mistake to avail themselves personally and/or professionally of her special talents.
